Tommy Krappweis
Thomas “Tommy” Krappweis is a German writer, comedian, film, television and radio play director, producer and musician.
He is the creator of the KiKa character Bernd das Brot (together with author Norman Cöster), for which he was awarded the prestigious Grimme Prize in 2004.
He wrote and directed the film adaptation of the first volume of his fantasy trilogy “Mara and the Firebringer”, which won the Jury Fantasy Award at the German Role Play Convention in 2015.
In 2023, Krappweis and his company bumm film GmbH published the material as a star-studded radio play series, which became one of the biggest successes of the EdelKids label that year.
His book series “Ghostsitter” won the Lovelybooks Award three times.
The radio play series of the same name was the most successful radio play on Amazon Music Germany in 2017.
So far, 18 “Ghostsitter” adventures have been published, and new releases are planned for 2024.
The radio play “Kohlrabenschwarz” (with co-author Christian von Aster) will be continued in 2024 with season 3.
According to Krappweis, the series of the same name on Paramount+ has received “the best reactions and reviews of my career to date.”
Together with podcast team Hoaxilla and his wife Sophia, Krappweis started live streaming on his Twitch channel “WildMics” in 2020.
He reaches thousands of viewers every Tuesday with the livestreams and podcasts #nachsitzen, in which experts, people affected by discrimination and other interesting people talk about various topics.
Tommy Krappweis and his team have been honored for their commitment with the Civil Society Award, the Kaiser Maximilian Prize Tyrol and the European State Prize, and Krappweis received the European of the Year Award in 2022 for his commitment to political and social education.
